Edit Szatmari Vagedes – Conductor

Edit Szatmari Vagedes serves as the Jackson Center’s Conductor. Conductors are movements specialists that teach skills to promote independence in self-care and mobility while helping participants gain self-esteem and achive academic skills.

Edit holds both a BA from the András P̈ëto Institute of Conductive Education and College for Conductor Training and a MA in education from the Eotvos Lorand University of Sciences Faculty of Humanities. Edit has both taught and trained other Conductors at the renowned P̈ëto Insitute in Budapest, Hungary where her last post was as Deputy Principal of the School Department of the P̈ëto Institute. She has also worked in many other countries throughout the world working with private individuals and small groups.

Lara DePoy, MS, OTR – Occupational Therapist – Program Director

Lara DePoy, M.S./OTR, is the Jackson Center’s Occupational Therapist/Program Director. Lara also holds a Certificate in the Principles of Conductive Education through Governor’s State University and has completed multiple certifications in specialty areas including oral motor skills, sensory processing disorders and Craniosacral Therapy.  Lara’s experience spans a wide range of ages but she has devoted her career to the Jackson Center since it opened in 2005, supervising the day-to-day operations. Perhaps Lara’s most important (and proud) title is Jackson’s mom.

Other staff includes:

Classroom Aides:  Classroom Aides work under the direct supervision of the Conductor and Program Director and are available in approximately a one-to-one ratio to assist participants as needed.

Melanie DePoy, Development Director, is responsible for day-to-day Center management and all fundraising activities.
